My fabrics have been sorted and matched to their patterns, and I’m ready to start wielding those amazing Ernest Wright scissors again. (Oooh the lovely crunch of new fabric as I cut…)
I’m being obedient and following your advice oh mighty ones, and it will be the rainbow zebras that go under the knife first. I’ll be repeating my frankenpattern of ‘Flat Bottom Flo’ and ‘Misty’, both from Style Arc. They’ll have jeans styling, patch pockets at the back, fake pockets at the front and an elastic waist. Shoot me, I’m in my fifties and fat!
I’ll probably match the topstitching to the background so that it doesn’t harm my lovely zebra herd, but that plan may change once I start. I also found a fair sized piece of the gorgeous digital zebra jersey from MyFabrics, and joy of joys, on the fifth search of the same drawer, I found the Katherine Tilton T-shirt pattern! I’m hoping the two will be very happy together.
Now for the NARSTY THING:
This horrible object has been a ‘feature’ in my parents’ living room for many many years. It lolls on the arm of the settee, and holds the TV remote controls. It sneers at passers-by, and (I swear) makes rude gestures behind your back.
I thought such a vile thing must be a one off aberration…then I found someone is still making and selling the NARSTY thing- but in a kinky PVC version. Fifty shades of vile.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TV-Kitty-Sofa-Remote-Controlled-Holder-Cat-Meow-for-control-remotes-/121614800760?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c50ce9778
It’s been in a disgusting state for a long long time, but my dad has refused to let it go. Mum has asked me several times if I could ‘fix it’ and I’ve shied away, wincing. Finally, feeling guilty, I’ve bitten the bullet, and agreed to do something. (Yes, binning it is the first choice.)
I’m going to have to remove bits of disintegrating fabric and attempt to handstitch something back together. I’m not prepared to make it from new, or completely unpick it- the fabric’s too far gone.
I’ve left it to the last minute, but I need to get my finger out- the olds are coming to dinner on Saturday, and I’d like to return the horrible thing to them, as it’s offending my eye!
Daughter and friend are visiting tomorrow, so I may be a while. Watch this post!
