Not some Royal sponger, but my lovely parcel of delight from The Textile Centre.
My first reaction, when I ripped open the packaging [no restraint for THIS Fairy thank you very much] was ‘I didn’t order this!’
It looked like a length of white-on-white jacquard, when I was expecting green roses, giant parrots, and green flames. Hmmm. A free tablecloth?
It’s the green roses- I honestly hadn’t clocked the word ‘jacquard’ in the description, and assumed it would be the same base fabric as the red roses and parrots: a high quality stretch cotton sateen. This is even more special! Ooooh I can’t decide now what to make out of it, but it needs to be very very special, while still being wearable on a frequent basis- no point in party dresses, and we have no weddings on the horizon.
The glorious parrots are squawking in my head, and want to be cut out TODAY so I need to think fast.
OH loves the green flames, despite assuming at first that they were for me. I’ve convinced her that more trousers/leggings are in order- probably using the Style Arc ‘Linda’ pattern.
This is a great favouite of mine, and OH often nicks my pull-on trousers when all her stuff is in the wash. The flames go across the stretch, not up and down, so she may have flames round her tush and at the trouser hems…should look good.
The background colour is a charcoal grey, and the fabric is ‘angora knit’. Very nice, and quite unusual.
I’m recovering from my tooth extraction on Wednesday, and haven’t needed quite so many pain killers today [although I did have a phenomenally long lie in] and I’m itching to get sewing.
Oh scissors, where art thou?
Any thoughts or suggestions for the roses? Dress? Trousers? Jacket? All ideas more than welcome.
