While gloating [in my inimitable way] about the HUGE HEAP of stress that’s just landed on management at work, I decided to check the spelling of schadenfreude. And found a delightful Wikipedia page which has furnished me with a whole heap of alternatives:
[anglicised as epicaricacy]
Latin: delectatio morosa
[anglicised, morose delectation, a sin!]
I’ll check with my exchange students tomorrow to find out if there’s an Italian version, and check my pronunciation of the Dutch, Finnish and Norwegian versions.
It’s nice to know that there are humans all over the world [and in ancient history] who are as mean as I am!
Sorry- makes me laugh
