After my little wardrobe blitz, I noticed a dearth of red…and, conveniently, some red and reddish fabrics among my more recent acquisitions.
Serendipity!
So, just cut out and ready to sew I present:
Another Folkwear Frontier shirt, using the mega-red roses stretch cotton sateen. I’ve placed the pattern to put roses on the body sections [fairly symmetrically, although it isn’t a symmetrical pattern], the cuffs, the very tops of the sleeves [that wasn’t particularly by choice], one of the front bands, and the collar band.
The flowers ARE NOT centred on the boobs…at least I hope not!
Yokes, collar, and inside cuffs and collar band will be plain white. Piping will probably be in red [if I find a good bit in stash] or possibly black, as the centres of the flowers are black. So are they roses or possibly poppies after all? We’ll see.
Also in red, an asymmetrical top, McCalls 6400 [now out of print] and a drapey/cardigan jacket from Butterick 5472. This is supposed to be for a woven, and also lined, so I’m probably being more than a bit daft cutting it out in jersey…time will tell.
The fabric is a self stripe, textured jersey from MyFabrics, which I bought on impulse cos it was a bargain. Shoot me. I think these 3 items may inject a bit of dash into my overly blue and green wardrobe. Next up, re stock the purple!
In other news, I made shoulder pads for the mock suede jacket, and I’m happy with the result.
Oh yes, and no Ofsted yet, they’re coming to us tomorrow. Joy!
Roses, not poppies – black piping !

I think so too…then I don’t need to worry about matching shades!

I really thought you had aimed the roses to actually emphasise the bust! And red is such a brilliant colour to wear – always makes me feel optimistic and strong. Can’t wait to see them on.

First thing I thought too …. Are those flowers on the boobs? I see they are actually lower down which means you should be OK – they would be centred on mine😀 unfortunately. They look like poppies to me.

I had total faith that your poppies weren’t as low as the print depicts them! Nice plans!

I bet you were really hoping for a little schadenfreude…go on, admit it! Having ducked the rosey boob disaster, I’m now unable to see anything but zombie gore…dammit!

Well, after a good zombie frenzy, a hand towel would be helpful to avoid messy bosoms!

Oh I dunno, I’m kinda used to having spilled drinks, food and crumbs all over the bazoomas, so what’s a little blood and guts?

It’s a handy food shelf, I admit. So my zombie bib collection might not sell??
