The roses/poppies shirt is done, and waiting for its snaps. [A little aside- I’d put a pic on Facebook, and commented that I liked the fact it made me look like I’ve been paintballing. A young friend said ‘more like the victim of a zombie mauling’. *sigh*]
The red asymmetric top was worn all day to Pride, along with the zebra jeans, and I felt fine in it. The wine helped! [Doesn’t the wife look lovely with her new mohawk? You can’t see, but she’s wearing the leggings I made her too]
The ‘suede’ jacket is proving a useful seasonal wardrobe addition as uber light jacket/warm cardigan, and the recent wardrobe blitz is still making me feel very smug because I can close my drawers. [Ooh-er missus, etc]
The experimental red drape cardigan is a definite meh. Wearable, but far from flattering. I’ll see if it gets any use as a round-the-house coverup, but if not, it’s going. My second go at the crate of shame [repairs/alterations/UFOs] will result in a couple more hitting the dust I think, like this Colette Oolong. It was a very wearable toile at the time, but I’ve changed shape, hair and taste since then, so someone else can benefit.
Wife is eyeing the suede remnants and asking if I have any left [phew, she still hasn’t sussed], and may want a western shirt in it… she’s also got her eye on my silk/cotton chambray, but she can whistle for that!
Parrot print cotton sateen
Soft non-stretch light denim
Green roses…although I think I need to find the perfect summer dress pattern for that one. Any suggestions? Do I need a third western shirt ion the chambray, or is that too ordinary? If I make it, shall I go for the more ornate yoke design? And what about the parrots? Skirt? Trousers?
The Issy Miyake top screams to be part of wifey’s wardrobe…but now it’s here, it’s whispering seductively in my ear. So I just hauled out a bit pf poly dupion from stash to play with it. The construction looks intriguing as hell: it’s a sort of origami poncho. I suspect the armholes look way to bra-revealing, but that’s why this definitely needs a toile, even for impatient me.
I rummaged in stash, and found a rather nice batch of blue and purple smallish remnants, which would work nicely as either Style Arc Dixie or Lexie. Both lend themselves to blocking/piecing and contrasting fabrics.I also mooched out the following: a small remnant of heavily embroidered white-on-white cotton [hmm maybe a panel or 2 in a summery Lexie?] and the stunning jade green suiting which was a disastrous DK A-line skirt. Note to self NEVER MAKE A LINE SKIRTS. The fabric has been harvested, and there’s enough left for something beautiful… The green and white are reminding me of the green roses again!
The blue lengths were impulse buys, poly jersey knits, like ’em, not calling yet.
Spoilt for choice of course, and there’s more on the way…
