I’ve made a start on this, and I’m already irritated. The main piece is a huge rectangle, going from back hem to front hem. You start by stay stitching round a dirty great slash, then making ridiculously narrow binding to go all round it. Why so narrow? No idea. The contiouous strip is only an inch wide, so I suppose the finished thing is 1/4″. Steamed fingers? Well yes.
I’ve spent forever doing that, and basting it on. Now I get to stitch round, trying not to go off the edges. This will NOT be my finest hour I can tell you. And it’s so narrow it doesn’t cover the stay stitching so that will have to come out next. Sigh.
However, once that’s done, the origmai stuff begins, which at least promises to be interesting.
Meanwhile, I’m listening to Justin Cronin’s ‘The Passage’ for the 2nd time. I’m still not sure if I actually think it’s any good. Anyone else read it?
Right off to swear at this ruddy binding…laters!
