Well, I’ve had some of the marking money, the holidays have started, and it’s the wife’s birthday on Sunday, so we’ve started the fun by dropping into Majestic Wines on the way to a rather scrummy pub lunch on the way home.
So, one nap later [I’m a lightweight these days, sorry] I’m doing a bit [OK a lot] of online shopping. Therapy.
So far I’ve ordered, GoT Season 4, and pre-ordered season 5 and Avengers-Age of Ultron. Thanks Amazon!
I got there via succumbing to a flyer from one of the local theatres for a showful of Motown hits: ‘How Sweet It Is’. Should be a hoot.
Then I went for a little bimble and ordered some Liberty fabrics from Shaukat’s: look at these lovelies. I saw the book-print one yonks ago on the Liberty main site, but couldn’t afford it…bargain! The other is for the MIL, as she was admiring the wife’s Liberty shirt yesterday. Little treat ma?
Not so bad you say? But last night I went all ebay-ish, and ordered four lengths from The Textile Centre, and a couple from a new-to-me seller, Cheapest Fabrics. I’ll report back when they arrive- the pale blue looks lovely, it’s a silk/cotton blend…suspiciously cheap though!
Red/charcoal poppy print for a dress of course…yum. Tartan- don’t know, I’m not usually a tartan type, this may not end up for me. I’ll see if I love it or not.
Plain black jersey cos I need some plain tops, and the Mayan print just cos. Again, may well be more for the wife, depends on the shades.
And the new contender. I love black/white graphic designs, and this just HAPPENED to be the same print as the dress I was wearing when I made it, but a different colourway. Fate, obviously. And just look at that sexy pale blue…mmmm
Greedy, undisciplined Fairy. I’d better get sewing eh?
Apart from finishing the works in progress, I plan to make some more trousers, some plain/simple tops, and as it’s Lingerie Month, I should get cracking to use up all that lovely bra kit that I bought. Laters!
Great haul you got there! Looking forward to seeing some new creations from the House of Fairy. But please, stop it with the temptation, will you! I’ve just gone and bought 4 lengths of fabric from the Textile Centre since I read your post. In fairness they’ve been on my watch list for ages, and some stocks are running low, so it was silly not to……..who am I kidding? I don’t stand a hope in hell of getting any of it made up in the near future. I just drape them on my dummy and admire 🙂

Ha ha! I never stop sewing! Too busy with internet disaster wedding dresses for distressed brides, now that the prom dress panics are over, lol! I did take a couple of hours off last week though, to make myself a jersey maxi dress. Thoroughly enjoyed it 🙂

I don’t miss the marking but I do miss the money!
No haul for me this year so I’m living vicariously through you – keep it up!

I’ve ordered from Cheapest fabrics in the past with no problems and liked what I got. No doubt you will disappear under a mountain of fabric in the not too distant future. Nice fabrics on order by the way.

Hmm. I love the way you have shown exactly what you have ordered, but I wish you hadn’t posted this as I am trying to use up what I have. But a small peek won’t hurt….

Well I used to think that my hoard was excessive, but I do use it up fairly speedily, and it clearly doesn’t compare with some folks’ outrageous stashes. The stuff that’s been around for a long time tends to be very cheapo, and dates from my operatic costuming days…mostly suitable for clothing 60 peasants. Not all that inspiring, and should probably go for dusters! I also keep too many small bits, but hate patchwork. Sigh.

Happy birthday to Dawn. I love the the look of the poppy print twill, but must resist as I have been on a little buying spree myself and have gone floral mad. There is a Textile Centre shop in Walthamstow and I snaffled the last of some gorgeous floral scuba.

I thought you were being quiet – turns out I hadn’t subscribed to your blog like I thought I had!! Plenty on here to keep me entertained at work for the next few days :0)

Quiet? Me? I haven’t been posting a great deal while I’ve been exam marking, and I’m slightly subdued while I wait to hear about my job…but I’m busy sewing!
