Steaming to a stop [for now]
10 small buttons, 4 hand sewn buttonholes, 4 large cogs, 2 small keys, 1 hook and eye [and a partridge in a pear treeeeeeeeeee]
A bit more hand sewing, but this time, no bleeding fingertips. Jacket and bodice are done [I think]
Things that went well- most of the coat.
Things that didn’t: the rubik’s boning, the very fray-y lining, the thread-nreakingly-annoying black velvet ribbon and the point today when I realised I sewed in those shoulder flange things upside down so the understitching shows. Ah well, it’s now topstitching and a design feature.
I had a long and boring day on my own at work today, so did some internet browsing [as you do] and saw an image of a similar boned bodice with some interesting, crossed-at-the-back straps. I may at some point add some on as it isn’t a type of garment I favour much. The alternative may be to make a fine fabric short sleeved shift to wear underneath it.
Not fussed as I’m unlikely to wear it on its own in any case…I love the jacket soooooooo much.
I’m still waiting for the black taffeta to come back, so you’ll have to put up with these pics being hastily taken over trousers and sans footwear. Also, the back lacing is standing in for the real thing which will be much longer and finer, and use all the loops. Shoot me!
