Some progress, and a little time to play this morning. Unfortunately, I’ve had to clear all my sewing area away as my parents are coming for an anniversary meal with us this evening. Flipping family, interrupting my sewing!
So today’s progress is minimal, but not too shabby. I have played a little more with pinked strips to make trim. I experimented with different colour combinations, and of course, I like all of them, so can’t decide.
I found that gathering a pleated strip gives a surprisingly pleasing effect.
I made another origami sample, on the narrowest strip yet- here they are for comparison. We both think that the narrower one looks the most intricate and interesting.
I cut out lining pieces for the side drapery for the skirt: the rest will be left single layered, as the edges are secured, but these could flap about. Oooh! I could trim the inside too! lol. I should be able to assemble the lot [apart from the trimmings of course], quite quickly.
I’ve cut out the lining and interlining for the bolero jacket, and would have been sewing it now, but my dear wife is in Doris Day mode and needs to polish everything. Probably including me. That’s a job for tomorrow [the jacket, not getting me polished.]
Once those two items are on their hangers, I can get the lilac bodice cut out, and then I want to spend this week on that parasol, as it’s my January procrastination piece for the Historical Sewing Monthly challenge….I started this project in September. What could go wrong, it’s just triangles right?
I also acquired another pattern…now how can I work this into my plans?
How will you ever decide when there are so many great trim options? Oh, and will your parasol get trim? That could really be quite beautiful.

It originally had metallic lace [which I’ve saved and washed carefully] and a ruffled, pinked trim around the edge. I plan to do this as much back to its original state as I can…

That corset pattern is drop-dead fabulous – please make it.

I think I have to. Perhaps I could incorporate it into the SWAP, perhaps I’ll do it after April. The high back makes it very wearable…

Those trims all look fabulous – but incredibly time consuming. I agree your parasol would look fabulous with one of these trims. You need to work out how to survive without sleeping, then you would have time to make that heavenly corset too!
