So close, but too tired to finish it off after all. I got the lace arranged and attached, using fairly loose running stitches on the right side, and moderately small stitches inside. Not as neat as it should be, but I’m losing the will to live.
The pinked and gathered strip makes a decent enough ruffle around the tip to disguise the messy bits. I should have made a longer piece, but…
I was going to cover the frayed edge with a frill made from the chiffon, but it’s sooooooo fine that it takes about two miles to make a ruffle that’s rich enough to show up. I reached for the bias strip of the dupion and pinked two narrow strips, which will gather sufficiently to look foofy, without being too frilly for me to stomach.
But no more for tonight.
I will finish this, I will…
I expect that you won’t be doing another one in a hurry. Brilliant work – the pic with the light shining through it is good, shows up the pattern on the lace quite nicely.

There’s actually another in the wings, but it’s MUCH smaller and simpler. I hope.

That’s lovely! The metallic lace looks like it’s cleaned up really well now.

This is definitely worth all that handwork (not a phrase that I utter much). It’s looking fabulous. You will forget about being fed up with it when you are out showing it off! 🙂 Xx

Oh guys I hope so. I’m now just a few hours from finishing and can’t make myself leave the PC to go do it. Wah!

It looks fabulous. You will have to take care not to damage it if you do use it as a duelling weapon!

I think this will be for posing only…I may contrive something more butch for the duelling. Mind you, it’s non-contact…
