Modelling time- bodice pinned on, and I’m happy with it. Even though it’s crumpling at the back waist and falling off the shoulders a bit, all will be well. I can take the neck edges in a tiny bit when I finish them, and if needed, tuck a bit of elastic away under the trimming which will hide a multitude of sins.
There will be light boning on those princess seams which will help this long line bodice [called a cuirasse bodice, ie like armour] lie smoothly over all those skirt draperies. I’m surprised to find that I really like the puff sleeves- sooooo not me, but they work! I made them extra pouffy in fact, because I layered in some stiff poly voile to hold the shape.
I’ve got shots here of the bodice over the silver skirt and drapery only, and then the butterfly train is added in for the full effect. The middle of the train fastens onto the bodice itself, so I need to make yet another thread loop.
Now I have to finish off the bodice- other sleeve, lining, fastening and trim. The skirt draperies get trimmed too. The pleated trims are all ready to go after several steamy hours yesterday over iron and pleating board…
Here it is with the train attached
