Well that took three days longer than expected/hoped, but it’s done.  Unless I decide it needs more soutache around the button area…you can tell me later!

The buttonholes were a cinch, so easy and fast I was almost disappointed and could have carried on making buttonholes all over the thing.

I had to do a little more inside work first however, as the front hemline ‘points’ weren’t playing nicely.  I sewed some coutil scraps inside to fix it.  Seems to have worked.  Buttons were boring but not too painful, and I cheered, thinking I’d finished.  But no, I’d forgotten those ruddy sleeve linings.  Sigh.  Another job, but eventually it was done.  I scurrued off to get presentable, and …well, take a look.

SO HAPPY!  And get me in the pith helmet, wielding the crop.  Squeeeeee!

Then look:

IT WORKS WITH THE PACK #1 SKIRT TOO!  Woohoo!

Right, now I get to crack on with the [maybe] last garment of the SWAP:  the purple tail bodice.  I think my final piece will probably be a re-make of an existing black skirt, as it’s never been QUITE right.

  1. That looks really really good on you. Well fitted and elegant. It looks good with the skirt as well but a little more difficult for riding a horse. Do you have the horse yet? You could keep it in your back garden – very good for queue jumping in traffic jams :)))

    1. lol Hard to be convincingly dom while getting the giggles every time I thwack my crop! Fun though, it’s all coming together now…got the almost-final piece cut out today

Can’t slow down, I have to make all Dawn’s new wardrobes after this- steampunk AND ‘normal’ as she just purged the wardrobe and got rid of all the clothes that menopause has taken out of reach…so some glamorous new togs are much needed to cheer her up. Anyway, I cut out the next item this afternoon, and I’ve just finished basting in the underlining and pinning it all together for a quick sew tomorrow. I intend to get the most out of this easter break, sewing will slow down to a creep in the run up to exams, and then I take on all my exam marking. Xmas will be on us before we know it lol
