When I was active in The Sewing Forum, I organised several sewing meets in Birmingham, visiting the Rag Market, Fancy Silk Store, and Barry’s Warehouse. I made some wonderful friends, one of whom ended up being a bridesmaid at my wedding [nearly three years ago now, wowsers]
I’m now making pals here, and via several sewing groups on FaceBook, so I’ve just organised another, primarily through the Steampunk Seamstress Squadron. For the Terry Pratchett fans amongst you, they’re not THAT sort of seamstress!
We’ll be meeting up on Saturday June 4th, between 1030 and 11am, in the cafe at the back of St. Martin’s in the Bullring, the church right next to the markets. We’ll tour the markets, grab lunch, then head over to FSS, take a quick refreshment break, then walk round to Barry’s. Exhausted, we then usually end up in a pub by about 5.
Sound good? Then join me!
If anyone is interested, I can also do a midweek group, on Tuesday 31st May…that’s usually good because the crowds are smaller, and there’s a great grab-stall outside selling very cheap jersey oddments, the source of many of my tops!
Shall we follow the lead of several other sewing groups and incorporate a pattern swap? Why not!
