While the pressure at work is off now, and most of the students have finished, or almost finished all their exams/asssignments, I come home to the much greater pressure of exam marking deadlines. So I’m drumming my fingers impatiently at work until I can escape to get back to the productive part of the day…
Don’t get me wrong, I love exam marking, and find it informs and extends my teaching every year. I’ve taken on three units this year [that’s about 400 papers for each]. I’m now 2/3 of the way through the first, and will complete it by the weekend. The 2nd unit starts immediately, and the 3rd will overlap that. So I still have a few weeks of hard work ahead, and it usually sucks up most of my evening between arriving home and going to bed.
The good side is, of course, the nice chunk of income that will follow. The exam board is usually nice and prompt paying up, and part of that money is earmarked for a brand new, much-needed mattress and new bedding. I can’t wait!
Another chunk of dosh will be set aside for our steampunk madness in August…
I’m already pining for my sewing, and I’m trying not to look at the tempting heap of cut out goodness waiting patiently for me on the sewing table. Soon my pretties, soon!
In the little bit of down time allocated this evening, I’ll be watching GBSB and writing my review. Laters!
Mmm bonkers prints, how inviting.

So many intriguing fabrics! Love that lace with the pearl buttons. And those elephants! What will become of them?

I can’t decide. The coward’s way would be a bag, but something is telling me skirt…I’m going batty in my old age

Sweet! (And aren’t we all a tad batty in our own way? Maybe?)

Lol- the glasses have gone to a better place [present for a pal]…but I may buy more. I’m itching to do some sewing-ruddy marking!
