To market, to market…

…but we bought no pigs.  Or goats.  I’ve had a great day though, despite an annoying start when I missed my train and had to wait half an hour for the next one.  [But my ruffler replacement arrived, so that was good!] Anyway, I got there, and met up with lovely Kim and Glenda, grabbed a cuppa, and off we went.

Now Glenda and Kim swore not to buy anything, and I just wanted bobbins and a very specific fabric to line the 6Nap skirt.  To aid in finding this, I’m wearing my Vogue Lyn Mizono dress, made in the same checked silk.

First, I bought a pony tail.  It was  a snip at just six quid, and matches my hair- not a bad feat considering nothing else on this planet does!  We cooed and gurgled over lovely tempting sparkly trims, gorgeous lace, and some stunning curtain fabric that need one of us to adopt it…but we resisted.

Then I fell.  This amazing purple flock taffeta was rustling and whispering and sang a delicious siren song…so some fell into my bag.  Then some naughty but very cute penguins fell into Kim’s bag.  And some sparkly stuff.  And some fancy buttons.  Terrible.  I tried to tempt her with even more buttons but she regained some strength and declined.

We gurgled some more at the Jersey Lady’s stall, but I’d run out of ready cash at this point, and the cash machine was broken.  Bum.

Lunch!  We went to Mount Fuji, and had huge difficulty choosing from their amazing menu.  I had udon soup with tempura, Glenda had a bento meal, which is like Xmas on a plate, and Kim had a rather fab Japanese curry.  Nom.

Fancy Silks next, Glenda succumbed to some of the teal green wool suiting which she has resisted for five years, and after much rummaging I found the perfect matches to my wild silk plaid:  a shot organza for the skirt facings, and a very soft drapey silk something or other for the underskirt.  Yum.  Kim was going back to the market before joining us at Barry’s, so I decided I needed some penguins too.

Barry’s had been having  a clear out, and the bargain stands were oiled HIGH.  I found a couple of roll ends of happiness, and got another bit of purple tie-dyed viscose [I think].  3.5 metres for seven squid, thank you very much.

Only 1 metre, but soooo beautiful!

Glenda spotted some amazing Snoopy fabric, with tiny little Woodstocks on…Kim succumbed, but was saved by there not being enough on the roll for her plans.

Knackered, we parted, and Glenda and I headed for the pub.  Well 2 pubs really because it was a long walk to the one she wanted, and we re-fuelled on the way!

Phew!
