New babies, and plans

Right.  Asylum out of the way, and booked for next year.  Steampunks in Space booked for November [more on that later].  6Nap done and dusted.  Now what?

Well, today Dawn collected my new babies: #1 is a 1950 Singer Featherweight 221k

She’s in pretty good nick, but needs a little TLC on her electricals, plus a general clean and brush up.

#2 is a rather more battered and tatty 1923 66k, apparently a 3/4 version of my lovely 1911 treasure.  This one works, but needs a vast amount of cleaning and oiling.  We got the two for fifty squid, a bargain if they both work out…let’s see.

 

I’m floundering  a bit right now, trying to decide what to do next.  Just before leaving for Asylum, I made these two little reversible bags [maybe I showed them, I can’t recall]

They were well used at Asylum, and  I will make more, both sized up and sized down, it’s a very practical bag.

While we were away, I bought  rather cool little hip flask with belt holster in red leather, and the vendor made a brilliant walking stick holder for Dawn while we waited.  Impressive.  

I was delighted to find that Harlots and Angels had a stall, as I have two of their patterns on the back burner, and I got a mini kit to make a pocket watch holder for Dawn.  It even includes needle and thread!  A nice intro to leatherwork…

I had a little retail therapy on Nehelenia Patterns’ website, which will arrive on Monday.  No particular rhyme or reason, just wanty wanty, but I ordered these:

…and I have some notions stewing for ‘Steampunks in Space’ variations on these and the stuff I’ve got.

VERY next up will probably going be these:

Asylum corset

The missus was very taken by all the corsetry on display at Asylum, and may be persuaded yet…  the right hand one isn’t very far removed from her corded bodices, so I have high hopes!

I also want a kaftan, and some boring trousers for work- yes, I can still make ordinary clothes!
