Well it’s as good as it’s going to get, and certainly at least adequate! The lapels are looking good, the back is a bit tatty on the corners, but not enough to bother me- this is dress up not a wedding gown!
The ribbon trim is on, and I’m currently playing with lace and ribbon placement on the skirt overlays, and bodice insert. The skirt panels are asymmetrical, just half of the front and back skirt are overlaid. Most of the bodice insert is covered by the lapels, but I won’t be stitching them down flat, I think I’ll have more space for movement if they blouse open a little.
In the instructions, they just get a ribbon border, but, well, that would be too easy [and too pink] so I’ve gone a bit trim crazy. I’ve also placed and basted the mock buttonholes, which are just strips of ribbon. These go on the opposite skirt sides to the overlays, the lapels, and the cuffs. Buttons will be covered, but I’ll decide much later which colours to use.
Stitching this lot down neatly will take while, then I get to actually assemble the dress. Wish me luck
Good luck.

*luck* But I don’t worry, I know you’ll manage, and you don’t really need my wishes.

If we all put in the effort on our everyday clothes that you do with your ‘dress-up’ ones, we’d all be much better sewers and look amazing too.
