The end is nigh. Sewing down facings, sewing on buttons. Many buttons. Many, many buttons.
After I’d sewn the collar facing down, I decided it was too floppy, so I opened it back up, and slipped in a folded, starched piece of silk organza. Better. Not stiff and uncomfortable, but should hold up nicely. I’ll be adding period-appropriate collar wires, just slipped in and stitched in place. Another first!
Now all that’s left is making a pleat insert so that I can walk, attaching it, and finishing the hem. No idea if I should just make it plain grey, or do an organza overlay, or what. I’ll play, it’s only a folded rectangle, shouldn’t take long should it? [Famous last words…]
