Not a huge amount of energy tonight [I swear those GCSE students are psychic vampires] but I managed to neaten the insides of the buttonholes, and make the pockets on the coat. Nicely drafted these, with cute little curves at the top so they don’t get caught into the side seams and made smaller.
My extra touch here was to add a strip of the black peachskin to the lower front edge before adding the pocket bags. It’s about 1″ wide, and was a doddle…until I trimmed and pressed, then of course one was nice and neat and the other one went off at an angle. No idea why. Anyway, careful unpicking of the now-very-narrow seam allowance, a chalk ine AND basting, and they match. Rushing really doesn’t pay.
I interfaced the lining material pocket bags to make them stronger, and attached as per instructions, but did some understitching and top stictching to get neater edges. Press press, stitch stitch, lovely pockets.
