We were a small, select group today, me, Glenda, Kim and a new recruit to Birmingham jaunts, Helen. Glenda, Kim and I were all NOT looking for anything much, but Helen had a few plans in mind, including some summer skirts and some jammies. She’d visited Fancy Silks Store recently with her mum, but hadn’t ventured into the markets proper, or been to Barry’s, so that’s what we did.
Now, when I say I was good, I really, really was, honest, but I have earmarked several things to snaffle on Saturday, and you’ll have to be patient for those…
Meanwhile, the day started extremely well, as Glenda arrived with a sizeable length of interfacing for me, then the wonderful Kim turned up with pressies for us both. Mine was a lovely piece of fine, drapey stripey jersey. I feel another tunic top, or perhaps the bodice of another V1312?
In the markets I snagged several bundles of pretty ribbon for under £2, about 10m of broderie edging for petticoats for £1.60, and three pieces of jersey from The Jersey Lady outside. One for a top for me, two for vest tops for Dawn. The 3 pieces cost me just five squid.
I then bought a huge piece of Brie and some camembert for another squid, and some smoked feta for 50p. Kim also went cheese crackers [geddit?] I love the markets!
In Barry’s I was totally virtuous…but earmarked three lovely goodies to collect on Saturday. Glenda already had a large bagful from The Jersey Lady, and got stuck into the pattern books as there was a sale on. Helen got LOADS but did not spend a lot, so she was very happy!
And that was that, home for yummy cheese and French bread with fresh grapes. Nom nom nom. I really must get some sewing done!
