Another fun day, and I was good! [Mostly…]
Yesterday’s jaunt was a small group again, which is nice, ‘cos you all get chance to chat during and afterwards. Katja, Denise and Liz all trotted round the markets and Barry’s with me. We decided not to bother with Fancy Silks this time, as no one was on a very specific mission, just habby and general goody-hunting. The markets took some time though as we kept losing one another for various reasons, and much back tracking went on. I snagged some thread, and zips for Dawn’s ‘Ziggi’ motorcycle jacket.
Denise bullied me into buying a rather lovely layered top, comprising a very lightweight cotton shirt with a lace knit jumper over it, buttoned on at the cuffs [very unusual]. the saxe blue jumper has a few small beads on it, and there’s also a little scarf, which I probably won’t wear with it, I’m not really scarfy! Anyway, that blew my budget so that I had to trudge back to a cashpoint to be able to buy the coveted wax cotton.
And some herbs and spices. Yum.
Katja went loopy at the blingy braid stall [but so did the others] while I just helped, without succumbing! I picked up an ex-Marks & Spencer camisole and slip for £3 each too, it’s definitely not worth making them at that price.
A lovely, leisurely, and delicious lunch at Mount Fuji again, and then off to Barry’s in light rain and gusty wind. [Not from the lunch you understand, just weather.]
Grey stretch something-or-other for another Dawn shirt [£2/m], and mauve striped suiting for some smart trousers. [about a fiver/m I think]
I was determined to remain virtuous, so I quickly grabbed the 2 fabrics I’d earmarked on Tuesday, and retired from the buying spree. We bumped into 2 other steampunk Facebok friends, and eventually retired to the pub, to discuss the state of the nation and education in general.
Steampunk lets us make so many shiny goodies!
Then Dawnie collected me, the remaining marketeers departed for home, laden with carrier bags of course, and we wandered off to find a snack for Dawn to keep her going until 830 ish, when we were off out for an Italian meal.
Well fed and watered, we eventually got home close to midnight, shattered. What a day!
Fancy joining us next time? We’ll be heading to the Rag Market, Fancy Silk Store and Barry’s again during the Easter break, which is [for me] between April 8th and 23rd.
Hoping to meet you all at the Asylum so I then have the confidence to come along on one of your rag trips

Aw sweet! You don’t have to have met us first to join in on a market trip- none of us had met Denise in person til yesterday and no one got bitten!

people come from all over the place- Katja came up from Bristol, and Denise from Leeds. I’m lazy as it’s all here nearby, so I’m not inclined to go far!

I can’t travel very far – I have ME – I am going to London on Friday and having a bit of an internal meltdown as that is 3 hours each way. I will probably be recovering for a week or more!

oh poop yes that’s a bummer [sending spoons x] Maybe you can find an excuse to make a short weekend break of it some time, then it breaks down some of the rushing about. Try to enjoy London, and don’t let it stress you out if you can help it

It is- even if you manage to ‘be good’ there are always plenty of opportunities to enable someone else to buy!
