A huge range of fancy trims I used on the SWAP collection. I’ve NEVER spent so much time on making something fancy [other than the wedding dress beading] and I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed it. I made pleating boards, I hand-sewed fancy ribbon trim, I layered up different purchased trims, [and did some serious damage to my fingers, thimble notwithstanding!] I even pinked bias strips AND pleated them. Unbelievable. Here are some reminders of the pretties.
Once upon a time, I only made very plain things, but no longer! More recent makes, not all steampunk, include these delights.
Still to come…
I am in awe with your trimming skills. I don’t think that I would ever have the patience to make all those gorgeous trims. You can never have too many though, especially on Victorian stuff. Love them. Xx

Could you point me towards the post you did for Dawn’s green dress that you made last year. I bought some of that fabric and really fancy doing some ribbon work on it.

There were a few posts, on Simplicity 1008. The final reveal was in a post called ‘Wife of Wives’. I’ll try to find one of them, but the in-Blog search thingy is quite good on WordPress

AMAZING work, makes me feel very humble, thank you for sharing your beautiful makes.

No humility required- I’m very amateur, and learned these as I went along. They’re not difficult, or I wouldn’t have succeeded I assure you. I DO have talent at hiding my cock-ups though!

In love with these beautiful trimmings! I especially like the first one with the violet ribbon. That’s a trim, I’d like to try myself one day.

They all turned out to be easier than I thought, and not all that time consuming to make. Sewing them on, on the other hand, took ages!

I think it’s my favourite one to wear [with pith helmet of course!] It was very time consuming though. I pinched the wolf design from an Urban Threads GoT design of course
