Return of the mac…

  1. Sounds good so far. I cut patterns up too, I thought everyone did until I got onto tinternet. Tracing doesn’t work much for me because I can’t keep track of what I’ve traced and am never able to use a trace off a second time, also being a bit OCD I like to follow the original pattern lines and no matter how careful I trace I always doubt my accuracy, I like the reassuring original best and they keep pretty well if you’re careful.

We gots a snow day tomorrow 😄, it hasn’t stopped all weekend.

    1. I’ve never done anything but cut [sometimes fold to smaller sizes on a pattern I DEFINITELY will be using multiple times, like a set of bridesmaid dresses]. I’ve never had any trouble using them multiple times, OR getting them back in the packet [just iron the things people!] I’m not in the slightest OCD [I think- I do like to hang my washing in ordered ways lol] and I am a complete slob by nature. I have no trouble admitting that, mainly because there’s no hiding it!

  2. Good grief, I never trace tissue patterns – I buy them to cut up and sew. I don’t pre-wash fabric either and only when I really, really have to, make tailor tacks.
    You’re in good company!

    1. I know lol, I think some people are scared to admit it…I don’t know when all this ridiculous tracing started, waste of time! I have actually prewashed some fabric today, lovely lovely heavy cottons and linens so I don’t want them to shrink on me after the event. It’s a rarity though!

  3. I always trace. I have so many ‘standard’ adjustments (forward shoulder, FBA, swayback) that it’s nice to have a master copy in case I mess anything up.

  4. Heh I trace everything these days. I really regret cutting my earlier patterns because I am no longer the same size I was when I started sewing. Also I prefer to work with heavier paper than pattern tissue.

    Blimey that snow. Stay warm!

    1. I haven’t chamged out of jim jams for several days, and I’m staying warm as toast. Dawn’s the one for dashing about in the snow. I’m just hoping college is shut tomorrow too lol I find that by the time my size has changed significantly so has my taste in clothes, so why hang on them? And tracing takes so LONG, I could have made a couple more garments by then!

  5. Gorgeous fabric. I love that colour and the lining is absolutely stunning. It did make me wince when you talked about CUTTING OUT. However, I did this recently with a couple of patterns as I didn’t need to make any adjustments to them (wayhey!) and I bought them for 40p each a they had no pattern envelopes. Think that a sheet of Burda pattern paper would have cost more. I could cry when people do this to vintage patterns, but that is just me. Really looking forward to seeing how this coat turns out. It looks like it will be lovely. Xx
