It’s arrived! Vogue 8858, beautifully packaged and all ready for me to dive in. I do like to be able to examine the tech drawings, and the instructions. the basic skirt pattern looks very wearable in itself, so this is not just a mad indulgence of frilly insanity, honest!
I rather fancy the midi version in a nice lightweight pinstripe.
The key to this is going to be getting anice fit to the top part of course, which will undoubtedly just make it into a tube to accomodate my non-waist. This means that it will try to slither downwards every five minutes, as I have no bum to stop it! I’ll therefore need to put some elastic into the back waist, which is fine, as I wouldn’t be likely to wear this with a tucked-in top in any case!
I want the final effect to be as insanely frothy as possible, no restraint- this is not a sophistcated evening garment [for me] but a steampunk-able showstopper. This gives me leeway to bring some lace overlays and insets into the mix. EXCESS!
Well maybe not that much…
Waiting with bated breath here. Is that a double panel in the CF of the midi version? I have some stripey wool stuff (not pin stripe though) . I was hauling it around trying to get an inspiration yesterday.

It is indeed- very lovely shaping, all that swoosh, but sleek on the bum and hips- even lovelier on someone with both lol

I love the rather-crisp-but-louche look of the fabric in the top photo, but I don’t envy the poor person being flushed down the pink loo–
