SWAP 2018 #2: Vogue 8793, Katherine Tilton T shirt. Black jersey with mesh detail collar.
A very simple make which I managed to complicate by not paying enough attention to the pattern pieces. I glanced at the method for attaching the double collar, then just zoomed ahead, bagging out the two collars. The realised I’d bagged out along the wrong edge. Most collars need you to sew along the curved edges, right? Not this one [which is why the finished neckline sits so nice and snug against the neck of course]
The mesh is super stretchy as you might expect, so it kept trying to creep itself larger and larger as I tried to unpick the overlocking. er, nope. I just trimmed it off, and re stitched with a narrower seam. There was no way it would behave for me to topstitch the edge on my machine [no presser foot adjustment on this primitive little thing, no sirree no fancy machines in this house lol] so I just did a quick running stitch by hand to make it behave. All good. A bit of minor fiddling, and it all behaves and fits together nicely.
Hems and sleeves neatened, and that’s it.
A simple, well-drafted pattern, the collar adds a little something [although last time I made it I removed the collar and put on a plain band finish]. The fit is good- not too clingy, and a nice length to accommodate lumps and bumps. Of which I have a full complement. Sigh.
These posts are badly out of order now because I’m behind on the pics. Gah!
I was thinking I needed to buy that pattern ……. then I realised I already have it.
Great top, and I love the contrasting texture on the neckline.

It’s a deceptively simple piece- not too baggy, not too tight, and the possibilities for playing about are nicely demonstrated on the cover. Not sure about the zips though- I can imagiine them being very irritating on my aging crepey neck!
