Well, it’s kilt-ish I suppose!
Kathryn Brenne skirt from Vogue 9114. Woven cotton tartan which I bought for a SNIP from a lovely member of ‘The Sewing Place’ who was having a stash clearance. This may find its way into the SWAP as I still count it as being a stash bust, even if it’s not my stash!
I cut it out at the weekend, and sewed the whole thing up in one evening, which is a treat.
The fabric wasn’t wide enough, so I cut it on the cross grain. I also still fell slightly short so just made it a tad narrower by moving it over the fold a smidge. And I [almost] pattern matched! Good enough for this Fairy.
Then of course it came out slightly too tight on my fat middle, so I chopped some of the length out, from the waist down. This worked perfectly, because of my titchy height!
French seams, tiny narrow hems [there’s no escape lately] and a double channel elastic waistband, which is very comfy. I again ignored the pattern piece to make ties [life’s too short] and just used narrow rayon seam ribbon from stash. Not even in matching colours, what a rebel!
From the very small scraps, I have cut out 2 pocket bags, and intend to attach them at the top edges only, so they look like pouches. NO idea why, it feels vaguely punky! I was desperate to wear this to work though, so I have put them to one side to add later.
I like it A LOT. This is my new signature skirt I think.
In other news- the little boots were just over a fiver from the Bay of E. Cute AND comfy. Nice!
