Another blouse from the Jennifer Lauren ‘Afternoon Blouse’ pattern. This was whizzed up in an hour or so using more of the delicious shot-aqua silk dupion which used to be a curtain. I’ve previously made my absolute favourite steampunk top from this fabric, remember it?

I was absolutely knackered when I made this, after a sleepless night. So tired I was light headed and brain dead. Why sew in that state? I blame the fact I WAS in that state for the decision.
I set to, and started as usual by sewing the back neck facing to the front pieces. Then realised I’d sewn it to the BOTTOM of the front facings.
Tried again. Sewed it on wrong side up. Swore copiously.
Tried again. Nope, still the bloody wrong side out.
Nearly cried.
Got it right. Finished the thing in no time, found a couple of lovely irridescent rhomboid buttons in stash, et voilá.
There will be more.
It mixes and matches nicely with my other new makes
Love this blouse – colour shape fabric everything. Might have to investigate the pattern myself. Inspired use of a curtain. Best of all nobody will think you are wearing the curtains..

This is such a distinctive pattern. Very clever.

Not a style I would have normally gone for, being a cube makes me wary of boxy tops, but why not for a change?
