Not that one
Not that one either
That’s the one!
Style Arc does it again- easy to sew, [it took about an hour and a half] easy to wear, simple and cool. Trust me, you need this pattern in your life.
I shortened the lower skirt pieces by about 2″, just folding them out, and kept the rest as is. I could probably have done with 1″ each from top and bottom instead as the pockets are a TINY bit low, and I have monkey arms.
I thought about blocking this one, then about inserting contrast flat piping into those skirt seams to accentuate the line, but got impatient and just sewed it! The top is some of the purple left over from the not-yet-resolved problem of McCall’s 6792…
…the bottom is a fab ‘African’ cotton from Birmingham Rag Market [I think] I actually realised I have two lengths in almost identical colourways, one from a FaceBook de-stash group, one form the market, I can’t recall which is which!
I’m not normally a fan of cocoon shaped dresses but I really like feeling like a lampshade in this, go figure. There will be more…
And that ‘necklace’? I found it at an art/craft shop in Cheddar over half term. You know how most of those shops have col window displays, but are usually full of the same old…?
Well this one was run by a guy who did cool paintings, his wife who makes one off jewellery, and his ma-in-law who makes stuff like this necklace. My first thought was- cool idea, I’ll make one, then I looked again. It isn’t a single twisted scarf, but very beautiful pleated silk ribbons [hand painted? Don’t know] which just happened to be in my colours. I don’t wear many necklaces these days as I find them annoying, and my neck seems prone to forming skin tags very quickly [damn this post menopausal tissue paper skin], but this is so light you wouldn’t know you’re wearing it.
Anyway, as you may be able to tell, a new favourite!
Wow, you look so jolly and chipper in this outfit compared to the other photos today–hmm. It’s like if we were supposed to vote for the one we like best, and then the face is smiley in only one choice so it subconsciously influences us…

I’ve been avoiding buying this one. Looks like I’m going to be investing after all. Great dress and lovely necklace – I thought it was a scarf too 😃.

It’s fab isn’t it? I’ll have to dig out the shop address and share, it’s so unusual
