My latest exploits in cutting things out in bulk:
Style Arc ‘Nina’ cardigan, teal ponte [tried and tested] This pattern, different fabric
Style Arc ‘Maise’ dress, teal ponte top, purple/teal African cotton print skirt [tried and tested]
Simplicity 8177 ‘Mimi G’ long waistcoat, sleeveless this time, purple ponte [tried and tested] This pattern, different fabric
Vogue 9254 Tilton dress, multi-stripe teal/black/purple ponte
Pattern front right here [A beast to cut out, just look at this for complicated pattern nesting ]
Greenstyle ‘Chelsea’ flares, purple ponte [tried and tested, although the first pair was for the missus, unblogged]
Are we seeing a theme here? I realised on going through my fabric crates that I have very little knit fabric in stash, and the wardrobe gaps are for trousers and cardigans…although there’s always room for another dress lol. All of this will also feed into my ‘Sewing With a Kind of Plan’ wardrobe for The Sewing Place challenge. I am starting to enjoy organised sewing!
So I splashed out on some teal, purple and navy ponte, knowing it will all meld into my current favourite work wardrobe. The stripey fabric bringing all my colours together was a lucky find, don’t you think? I think I bought 3m of each, and I’ve managed to squeeze quite a lot out of each piece…
I still have to cut out at least one pair of Style Arc ‘Linda’ trousers, the very first Style Arc I made, and they’re absolutely my go-to casual trousers, although most are getting a bit shabby or pilled after several years’ of wear! I only made one pair to look smart, a little longer to wear with heels, with pockets extended into a tummy control panel and piping down the outside leg seams. I wear them for work at least once a week, so I’m bored with them, and need a couple more pairs.
[They’re the ones I made as part of my ‘Jungle January’ collection several years ago, with the lovely Roland Mouret leopard fabric sent to me in the swap, by Kate of Fabrickated. The trousers, pencil skirt, long sleeved top and dress are still in use, only the jacket was sitting in the wardrobe unworn, and has now left home.]
Although I’ve avoided navy for years [it was my school uniform colour lol] I think I can bear it in moderation now!
Right. Now I need to thread the overlocker in purple/green/blue and get sewing!
