Last but one of my 2018 makes…
Simplicity 8177 Mimi G wardrobe pattern [again], a second version of the long coat, this time in purple ponte, sleeveless [because I didn’t have enough lol] I also had to piece the front facing and generally fussy cut this one. Minimal fabric waste makes me happy!
50-50 sewn on the overlocker and sewing machine. I also used fusible stretch interfacing for the first time woot! [Although not on all the pieces recommended I wanted this to be soft and cardigan-like…]
This time I remembered to take out the excess length above the vent [not like on the denim version, which I love, but I’m irked by the teeny dwarf vent every time I wear it!]
It all went together pretty quickly, so I made life harder by opting to do quite a lot of hand stitching to finish- hand hems on stretch fabrics just LOOK nicer [and they stretch lol]. I fixed all the facings down with a right-side prick stitch hidden by the ponte sponginess inside, and also remembered to do the same with those exposed inside pockets.

I’ve already teamed this with the Tilton stripey dress, and it looks great [the missus again says it’s very Hogwarts, which apparently is not a bad thing!
Gorgeous outfit Elaine!

Love it! And I agree with Dawn. (And yes it’s a good thing)
