Geodesic sweatshirt, Blueprints for Sewing, multiple offcuts in ponte/ WAY TOO LONG remember?
*shudders*
I hate unpicking. Really hate it. Knit unpicking is the WORST. Ah well. I stuck a talking book on and got to it. The bottom row of triangles came off fairly easily, making a huge pile of thread snippets, then I took the bottom band off THAT. I lost patience very quickly and cut it off.
I then reduced the band length by another couple of inches, and THEN realised I also needed to take the whole top in a bit to compensate for that, so sliced another couple of inches off each side seam. This of course means that the side triangles are not equilateral any more, but I can live with that if you can.
THEN I took the neckband off, shortened it a little to tighten it up, made darts in the shoulders and scooped the front neck a tiny bit lower.
Then I sewed the bands back on again.
It turned out slightly shorter than I would like, which, although better all-in-all than it being a mile too long and unwearable, still irked me. Off came the bottom band again. and a new, much wider band added. While I was at it, I changed the sleeves to be a tiny bit shorter too, just chopping the cuffs off-no more unpicking! I couldn’t find any more of the original teal fabric so used some of the darker navy.
Better, anyway.
I now want one that’s RIGHT though, so will need to see how small I can afford to go on the triangles in order to accommodate the boobs while still getting a sensible length so I can reach the pockets!
So this is where we stand on the SWAP so far
Original colour inspiration and palette, plus 9 possibles, clockwise from top right:
Geodesic sweater [here unshortened]
Navy woolly sweater
Purple Chelsea flares
Purple Fractal top [with a navy Style Arc skirt]
Green/cobalt T shirt
Navy Linda trousers [with a non-SWAP green tshirt
Blue chambray skull shirt
Cobalt/green shirt
Teal Victoria blouse
Not bad! I think it definitely looks coherent anyway.
More blog posts ANY MINUTE NOW to show you the stripey t shirt and the ivory silk blouse…
This is a pattern I want to try. I like your version.

Just be wary if you are not size 10-12!

Hmm you’re right, the shorter version /is/ better. Looks like you’re doing well with the SWAP!

Just about done but I have 1 or 2 more things to make this weekend before I decide what’s in. I suspect [as usual] I may have used too many fabrics to fit the rules, but I love all of it so don’t care much!

If you end up with a set of things that work together I think that’s a huge reward in its own right 🙂

This is why I like colour based SWAPs they really work for me

Thanks! It’s just leftovers from all the things I’ve been making recently, helps make the SWAP coordinated!

Shorter version looks much better. Fantastic swap colours looking forward to the final pieces.
Having seen the issues with your geodesic top wondered about piecing the triangles to create patchwork yardage and cutting a favourite top from that. Or making it as a dress. Would be easier than the maths! At least for me.

I think I may do a dress version- just using the longer version with a slightly wider band. the neckline needs to be fixed a the cutting out stage though! To be honest, the fractal top was a better pattern, and that comes in a dress version too…

Good to know. Will put the fractal ahead if the geodesic pattern on my internal things to sew list.
