Madness. I’m wearing this flipping top, have been admiring it all day, and was halfway through typing this up and only just realised it isn’t feather print at all, it’s leaves. LEAVES folks, why did nobody stop me?
Anyway.
LEAF print viscose from either Frumble or Fabric Godmother, I can’t recall offhand. It’s LOVELY to wear, I’ve felt cool and comfortable all day, and despite being a boxy, unfitted, kimono sleeve shape, I really like it.
It sewed up in no time at all, I didn’t even bother printing off any instructions [although if you’re so inclined, I think they have a tutorial]
FREE pattern download from The Avid Seamstress, The Drop Sleeve Top, says it all really.
Apologies for the pics- the cat distracted me by standing on the pergola amongst the roses, screaming for attention…the missus snapped off half a dozen shots and refused to take more. So this is all you get!
I didn’t bother with the loop back fastening, and cut the back on the fold [by mistake, I didn’t remove the seam allowances so there’s a quick pleat at the back neck lol] No alterations, straight UK size 16, ample room for my boobs and belly, yay!
Get the pattern, make some, I command thee!

Crumbs – first glance I thought they were butterflies! Anyway, beautiful fabric and fantastic summer top!

I’m surprising myself lately by being drawn to fabrics with quite a lot of pink in them, and that’s something I’ve avoided since I was 7!
