A tiny glimmer of mojo…

  1. New specs always make me feel like I get a new lease on life. Clearly yours are inspiring you too, these are very elaborate sewing plans. Boredom from too many scrubs may be a factor also? I made my first non-mask item last weekend (simple raglan t-shirt for my own missus, lovely organic knit) and it’s made me chomp at the bit to sew more. I have even started up the stalled sweater again

    1. One of the things that slowed me down was the fact that the SWAP date got so heavily extended. I sew best with a deadline when it’s planned stuff. I still have a month so what’s the rush lol. The specs are notquite right though- I normally prefer my contacts, and only wear my ugly mile-thick Mr Magoos at home. They are YEARS out of date though as regards prescription, so I was having great trouble with double vision at anything other than a few inches form my face, plus depth perception for walking round was zero. The new ones made me boss eyed at first for a few hours while my focal length changed hugely, and are a bit narrower than the others so my field of vision is smaller- I get BIG rainbows if I look out of the sides lol. I can move around better in them, but can’t read the PC screen, so I have to put the old ones on and keep switching round. Sigh. Hopefully the optician can help out

      1. I have several pairs of Linda stretch trousers, Flat Bottom Flo works well, and I think it’s Misty elastic waist ‘jeans’. Apart from that, trying to fit my flat bum, slim hips and HUGE gut is not simple if I switch to a woven. The voluminous Brenne trousers are not a style I thought I’d like, but I love them. Still, the wife is in charge lol

    1. the top surprised me- I am not much drawn to these simple boxy shapes, I’m boxy enough…but as long as the fabric is drapey enough, it can work. The appliques have brightened several outfits now, there’s only a few left [I went a bit crazy on eBay buying them some tears ago!]. The skirt pattern is wonderful. I made it years ago in both full and straight versions, but both were misjudged in fabric and length, so were rarely worn. NOW I’ve cracked it lol. The seaming is beautiful

      1. this is my thinking- but I’m looking at making more casual stuff to wear now anyway [when I get out of the pyjamas ]. I cut the flared panels differently this time, ignoring grainlines, so I need to let it hang for the bias to drop before hemming- but it’s looking nice so far!
