Edwardian Dominatrix outfit #3

    1. It’s REALLy comfy- I know the black will slightly counteract the coolness of the cotton, but it really is cooler with skin all covered up than exposed to the sun…as long as you move fairly sedately! I love the long lace up boots with it, but I need to rip out the nasty furry lining in them- it ROASTS me!

  1. Totally impressed. It looks absolutely amazing. Ginormous sleeves, and the fabric! The fabric is beyond compare, it really looks like leather, and I am a sucker for blak and red together, so there’s that too. Steampunking this will be great, I’m looking forward to see what kind of props you’ll wear with it.

  2. Oooh Err! Stern teacher face and the waggy finger! That is a look that would go down very well in certain circles. 😛 Seriously though, your outfit is absolutely bonkers but in the very best way. This might just be one of my favourite outfits that you have sewn so far. It is spectacular. I wish that more people were so fearless with their fashion choices (me included). I think that you have outdone yourself. Brava. Xx

  3. Quite Lovely. lining the hem with the red print was a brilliant idea! Wonderful fabrics. I love the contrast of the darkness of the black and red skirt with the pure white of your kitty. Fabulous job. ❤️

  4. My word you do look – strict! 😮
It’s clearly got a split personality, soft & light to wear but fierce to look at. I just hope it doesn’t rain, though, you’ll never get those sleeves in your anorak!

  5. Like someone said before, you were born in the wrong era, you look like you belong in this style.

I wonder what that fabric was originally destined for it’s quite distinctive.

    1. The stall that sells all this African fabric has a whole heap of lengths in this style/colourway, and another heap of black/white ones, rather Op-Art in style.
They’re more wearable [for me] than the very bright and clashing ones, which are gorgeous, but have a lot of bright pink and yellow, that I can’t wear. I have plans though.
      Watch this space!

  6. I rather like those enormous sleeves. I haven’t made a contemporary dress with leg o mutton sleeves for decades, but this is tempting me to try it again. The black works superbly, the red hem facing is just enough to liven it up.

  7. Gosh that’s amazing, DF. Can’t believe it’s not leather! Never seen a wax print like this before. Only ever found the bright ones.

      1. Yes I was thinking of that ‘I can’t believe it’s not butter’ slogan from the 90s when people wanted to believe their marg was butter… I think we have got over that in the new millennium.

  8. I love this! Totally off the wall, but amazingly so. 😀 The leather look with the red accents is reading fashionable comic book villain to me – they always have the best looks! 😉 (And my geeks is showing!)

    1. I think it’s easier to construct, not so many small bits! The sleeve shape is very clever though, getting that lovely curved sleeve, the nicely fitted cuff AND all that crazy pouff in one piece. Brilliant.

  9. The fabric is extraordinary. You look completely decked out in leather – which in itself would be a mean feat of sewing AND wearing! Totally amazing outfit. You look spectacular!
