Designin’ December 2017
Why not? I’d already planned to use the silk velvet Poiret-style evening coat I made for our wedding [and never wore] to make something glamorous to wear in colder weather. I’ve already bought a cape pattern from Truly Victorian. I decided ages ago to make a muff [insert bad taste Carry-On style jokes here].
The only outing the ruddy thing got, late on the evening of the wedding day…hence my bare feet!
Et voilá! The lovely Linda [of https://nicedressthanksimadeit.com/] pops up with ‘Desgnin’ December 2017′
As you might know, the idea is to find a designer garment you fancy, and shamelessly copy it, in December. I liked the idea, but don’t follow any designers, let alone truly covet their gear…I commented on Linda’s blog, and she said I’m not limited to modern designers. So off I trotted to poke the embers of my slow-burning plans.
I love browsing through images of Victorian/Edwardian clothes, as you know, but don’t usually bother to pay much attention to the designers. Some names stand out though, so I googled Worth, Pingat and Callot Soeurs. Because. I also browsed under evening cape and blue velvet evening cape [it’s supposed to be copying, not JUST ‘inspired by’. I think. Meh]
I found these beauties
But these four are calling to me quite strongly for now. What do you think?
