Two plain and simple tops from New Look K6351, a ‘wardrobe’ pattern I snapped up at a charity shop earlier this year. Viscose ‘milano’ jersey from Fabric Godmother. Nothing much to say about the pattern- it’s well-drafted, made up here in a straight size 18, and I like the depth of the V neck.
The fabric is GORGEOUS. Very thin and cool to the touch, drapey but not clingy. I used some of it to make a few vest tops for the missus, and she loves them so much I was ordered to buy more straight away. It’s not cheap [£10/m for plain jersey seems a lot to me] but has a great elastane content and excellent recovery. It also comes in lots of colours, but I needed some plain black/white separates, so hey-ho. Love it. 6m more on the way [including a lush purple woohoo for colour!]
Plain and simple, wardrobe staples. I think I need some more!
I might even knock up the jacket to use as a cardigan…
Staples are always a good make. I have a couple of tops and a couple of skirts that are all made from the same patterns.

Boring to sew, but I do need some plain tops to wear with fancy skirts!

Nice sewing pattern find. I recently learnt its worth paying more for a better standard of cotton and viscose jersey. I made a top with inferior cotton. I remade it with far supier version, and I’m much happier with the finish.
Great job on the tops.

I mostly go for cheap as chips, but splashing out on something so basic is unusual for me! The 6m of viscosr jersey arrived this morning, so I need to get a production line going!

Wow, 6m is really a lot. You will get a whole load of tops from that. This is a great pattern and looks like it will be a useful staple. Sometimes boring sewing is the stuff that gets most wear. Xx
