I wasn’t going to buy anything…but I slipped! We never even got as far as Barry’s this time, we had a Market Virgin with us, and things took a loooong time lol
A smallish group of 6, but we flexed and fluctuated, came and went, all day…except when happily ensconced noshing noodles at Mount Fuji.
My downfall started on about the second stall we visited, where I found this rather Liberty-ish jersey for just £3/m. Well, it would have been rude not to buy it at that price.
I’m planning for it to become this
V1405, Tracy Reese. I dunno, it says ‘red’ to me!
Then I got a few zips, buttons and lace. The lace is only 20p/m, the zips were 10p each. Yes, 10p. Gotta love the markets!
After making a leisurely circuit of the main market hall, we drifted round ‘The Row’ outside…and of course, being Tuesday, the Jersey Lady was there. Yoink! We filled up several carriers between us.
Each of these were only £2 a piece, and apparently some of the sweater knits on sale today were ex-River Island. The fine green knit on the left will have to become a lightweight summer cardigan.
We then had a delicious lunch before going on a serious hunt in Fancy Silks Store for some historical re-enactment projects for Karen. This took some time.
All too soon, everyone had to dash for trains, and I had to dash for a vodka.
Nice day!
Oh yes, and the nice young man we randomly asked to take this pic turned out to be one of my ex pupils!
PS Take an admiring look at Pamela’s fabulous tapestry coat [on the right]. We all had a little stroke at it!
Glad you all had a great time

Lovely to meet everyone, it was a great day. I bought laces too, it’s a great place for trimmings. Your fabric is perfect for that pattern, it’s a fab bargain.

I’m battling fabric envy here. As well as fabric prize envy. If I’d found that Liberty-ish jersey for that price, I would’ve snatched it up too! Gorgeous.

It has a really nice hand…no idea if it really is Liberty, but definitely-ish. I may cut that one out straight away

Another great day. All the fabric I wasn’t buying is now pre-washed ready for use. The Management wasn’t the least surprised at the haul!

Sounds like the best kind of activity – fabric shopping. I was so sad to have gone to Birmingham twice, both on days that the Rag Market was shut. It looks like such a bargainous place. Glad you all had a nice time. That red fabric is really nice and I have tapestry coat envy. Xx
