Cut to the Chase

  1. What an ambitious plan. I feel tired just reading it. I love the brightly stripes fabric. Nevertheless I was pleased you are turning to navy too! My school uniform was grey which I wear all the time.

    1. no I won’t be turning very much to navy it’s so BORING, I just thought a couple of pairs of trousers will make a change from black and work well with the green items. The striped fabric is not only fun, it was only £2.49/m, total bargain!

    1. I’m not very productive any more- with the easing of stress has come less need for escape lol! I do like to dress up for work though! The pattern says the trouser/skirt/thing is ‘woven with slight stretch plus drapey lightweight for flounce’. She seems to only ever use ‘woven with light stretch’ which isn’t very useful if you want to replicate something lol. The flounce overlay does need to be very floaty though. I’m almost thinking of going full punk and making it in a mesh, or some sort of slashed knit I bough ages back…but then I think of catching it on stuff and ripping it. Sigh. Too practical maybe…I’ll have to rummage. Could look cool in a sari-type fabric for the overlay….

      1. Mesh sounds very cool for that. Woven with slight stretch covers a multitude of sins but then I’ve got 70s patterns which suggest a truly astonishing range of possible fabrics. One has knits and denim given as suitable for the same pattern and given the age of the pattern it wouldn’t be stretch denim 🙂

Very glad to hear the stress is still reduced. My other half always reckons this is the worst term of the year and it gets better from here!

      2. oh behaviour is decomposing fast…a delightful young lady told me to ‘get out of her fucking face] when I asked her to go downstairs at lunchtime. Fortunately, the ones I actually TEACH wouldn’t dare, so I only get that kind of crap round and about…

  2. Honestly, just stop with the ‘look what I cut out’ thing…. can’t you just be like normal people and just cut and sew? Then wear…
You make me feel like a sloth. Anyway, good wishes on happy and carefree, easy sewing – then the wearing.

    1. lol it helps me keep track of how long I leave it all lying abou befoe sewing it ….or encourages people to egg me on a bit. Just got a gorgeous piece of crepe marocain in the post for a party dress [haven’t had an excuse for one for many years so I feel self-indulgent] Anyhew, a nice pile of stuff waiting to sew makes me feel productive, while I’m really a slug.
