…but I think I’m winning.
Two and a half hours of very careful unpicking, thread removal, fraycheck application, and re-basting and piping, and it all looks a lot better. Nowhere near finished, but I’m tired from all that close work.
I also tidied up all the fabric scraps from recent sewing, cut out the couple of bits of my equestrian skirt that don’t have pattern pieces, and organised a huge pile of fabric matched to patterns ready for my next cutting extravaganza. I think there are about ten or eleven garments ready for cutting…five of them aren’t for me, so not totally selfish!
The sewing box is much reduced, and I even used some scraps to make a couple of dust covers for the sewing machines [a job I’ve been putting off for AGES.] Nothing special, just rectangles hastily overlocked together.
Woohoo! Let’s see if my mojo continues tomorrow though.
Ah, yes…dust covers. I keep thinking I should, but haven’t yet. Maybe soon? Fingers crossed your sewing mojo is there today as well.

Not yet- I’m going to have a bath and see if the sew-jo returns once I don’t whiff… I was getting very annoyed with the horrible static-y dusty messes, and thought I should do something. Also, not so many scraps to store!

Fairly impressive I feel. Rehashing duff piping is no mean feat, and yes, I too should make some of those dust covers.

When do your machines rest long enough to need those admittedly flashy covers?
Hope the mojo is still in full force.

I’ve done a bit today- the piping/ribbon trim is far from perfect, but acceptable to my eye now. I’m reeling a bit though, time for another ruddy nap! [No idea how I stayed awake all day on Thursday!]

You did a great job salvaging the piping! Although I am not pleased that you are hiding you sewing machines from me! I love looking at everyone’s sewing/serging machines! 😠

Lol you’re not looking hard enough, they’ve been in several posts! Search for ‘Singer’ and you should find some pics…

I definitely will. I remember one of them, perhaps not a traditional Singer because I don’t remember it being black? But I am getting old, so my mind is slipping nowadays. 🙂 But I will search them up again as I do enjoy looking and reading about them! Thanks!

Ah found your Singer now. I remember she’s the black one with all the lovely decals I have never seen anywhere else. And she sews so well! I want a pin tucker. Although I am still trying to figure out what the attachments I got with my Aunt’s VSM do, so maybe I do have a pin tucker. One can only hope!

They’re so cool…simple, beautiful engineering. Sigh. Find your pintucker!

That is a fab idea about making dust covers. My poor machines are out all the time and I have a bit of a Quentin Crisp approach to dust – “There is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn’t get any worse”. 🙂

QC is my hero, and |I’ve been touting that line for years! [It also works for cutting grass- the ruddy stuff dies back after a while, it’s fine!]
