I got it! The bay of E did it again, and I have my natty new pattern winging its way from the US…
Think I may dig out the rest of this purple taffets and see how much I haveleft.
Could work, what do you think?
There’s also some of the lilac. I think it might also work with this bolero jacket…
What a lovely lot you are though! Offers to order the pattern for me and forward it, offers to act as a delivery address for me, offers to DRAFT it for me! Wowser what a community!
The downside? Naugty bad wicked Ruth leading me astray and forcing me to buy some more patterns I really don’t need. Or I may do. Perhaps I do need a sort of vaguely Westwood suit for future job interviews [I hope not, but who can say?]
I was pointed at this site and these fell into my basket. Now I have to bloody print and tape the ruddy things! Gah!
Not very inspiring line drawing, but something about that draped back, and the pleats formed by the buttons says tartan to me…
And after all, this has been on my Pinterest board for some time:
As does this. I see them making a potentially MAD ensemble [maybe too mad, who can say, but it called me, and I didn’t want to be rude.]
I’m so excited to see the skirt once you’ve made it!! 🙂 Also, what a lovely bunch following your blog!
Happy holidays and here’s to more beautifully mad makes in 2018! 🙂

Oh gosh! Thrilled (frilled) you got the pattern you wanted. And some more. I agree the Óki pattern drawing is horrid but it does have potential. I am loving your concept of a suit.

I’ll probably play with the jacket neckline as a high round neck is no good on me, but that is one for a toile and long consideration, no rush needed. It would be a suit rarely worn as such I’m guessing- I have little need of one inreality, and contrasting coordinates would be more lively [maybe plain trousers and top options to mix with the more outré components]

Those Oki designs are really rather tasty. I love quirky asymmetrical patterns so I’ll be interested to see how you get on with them. All that sticking together- have you any sellotape left after wrapping the Christmas pressies? Like you I need to stop buying fabric as I have a bad case of SABLE (stash accummulation beyond life expectancy- for anyone who hasn’t come across the term before!)

I sew fast enough to combat SABLE [touch wood] but CANNOT stop buying. Must, must must. I would actually like to go back to the days of buying pattern + fabric, I managed fine on that, it’s only in the last 7 years that things changed! No present wrapoping, so sellotape supply is fine! Back to sewing very soon I hope, work and domestic goddess duties have sapped my energy of late.

LOVE the skirt design with the flounces but I no longer wear skirts as the “waistband” slides up to somewhere just south of my bra band line… very uncomfortable. Now I am scheming of ways to design/make that into a dress. hmm…

I’m pretty tubular from ribcage to hips, but if this is for steampunk I would normally wear corset which helps no end! The other trick I would try, If I want to wear it as muggle-wear would be to use a ‘yoga’ waistband, replacing all the top yoke with a stretch fabric. Sorted!

Gorgeous skirt. That is fab that you got your pattern. I had a browse on the Oki site too. There are some lovely things. I do like your choices and know that you will really do them justice. Happy festive fun day, if you celebrate it. 🙂 Xx
